Where To Eat: Our Favorite Places

These are our favorites. These restaurants don't know we have listed them here. If you go to these places you will experience the flavor of Key West as a local and not as a tourist.

"Square One" Restaurant This is simply one of the nicest restaurants to have dinner, not just in Key West, but anywhere. The food is outstanding and lovingly prepared. It has a charming small bar that is open for happy hour from 4:30 - 6:30 and dinner is served from 6:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. seven days a week. Visit on Tuesday and Wednesday and listen to the angelic voice of Jill Galt and pick up her cd's which are both fantastic. Address: 1075 Duval Street, Key West, Fl 33040 Phone 305 296-4300. Reservations are suggested. Dress is casual. There is ample parking off of Simonton St. but treat yourself to a cab so you can relax! Everyone we have ever sent here has raved about the food and the service. There is live piano music every night presented by Joe Lowe and David Clark ( ask them where they get their shirts!!). If you only have one night for a special dinner, go to Square One. Tell Michael we said Hi!	The Pier House Restaurant This is simply one of the best places to eat anywhere and it is right on the water. Be sure to order the conch chowder(one of the best anywhere!), the grouper sandwich (always fresh and first rate), and the conch fritters (words cannot describe these!). It's open for lunch and dinner. Go for lunch and you will stay for dinner! It's located in the Pier House Resort at 1 Duval Street. Phone: 305 296-4600
The Hyatt Resort This is one of the nicest and most intimate properties in Key West! The restaurant is in the back right on the water. The food is outstanding. We always order the conch fritters (just the sauce will get you back to Key West) and the conch chowder. The snapper and the grouper are always excellent and the service can't be beat. It's located at the Hyatt Resort, 601 Front Street. Phone: 305 296-9900.	El Siboney Restaurant This is a great Spanish restaurant that will give you great food without breaking your wallet. Go with a big appetite. They have a non-smoking area and do not take credit cards. They have great take out if you want to eat in your room or boat. Cayo Hueso y Habana The best Spanish food on the island because Chef Pepe ( formerly of El Maison de Pepe) prepares the food. In Mallory Square where all the action is, you'll really enjoy the festive atmosphere. All credit cards accepted and moderately priced. 201 Front St. 305 293-7260	Rusty Anchor This rustic seafood restaurant is on Stock Island just over the small bridge leaving Key West. The seafood is the freshest (you can buy it to cook from the back if Ramon is there) and the portions are generous. Be sure to order Fish 'n Chips with Grouper! They are the best! All credit cards are accepted and the beer is very cold. Moderately priced and worth the ride. If you take a cab it will still cost you less than eating the comparable food in town. Paradise Cafe This is a sandwich restaurant that will exceed your expectations. The sandwiches are HUGE , delicious, and made to order. Our favorites are the cuban mix, the roast beef, and the roast pork. One sandwich will take care of two people with a normal appetite. Don't forget the cafe con leche..it is the best on the island and brewed fresh to order. Phone ahead to save time, but they also DELIVER anywhere on the island. Cash only. If you go say hello to Mary for me. 1000 Eaton St. 305 296-5001	Pepe's Cafe Pepe's make the best omelet on the island and opens at 6:30 A.M. closing at 10:30 365 days a year. They make a terrific fish sandwich but the entire menu is excellent and moderately priced. The beer is cold! 806 Caroline St. 305 294-7192
Damn Good Food To-Go This is a great new place with excellent sandwiches and an extensive deli menu. They are open 24 hours and they DELIVER HOT FOOD!!! It's located at the A & B Marina right downtown. You will love the hot food! 700 Front St. 305 294-0111 fax 305 294-7677	Camille's
5 Brothers Sandwich Shop One of the island's greatest secrets, this best place for cuban coffee is located at 930 Southard Street, at the corner of Southard and Grinnell. They are open from Monday -Saturday from 6:00 am -6:00pm. Their phone number is 305 296-5205 and they deliver. This is one you will tell your friends about.	Louies's Backyard
